Treating an Eye Emergency
A chemical splash can seriously damage the delicate tissues of the eye. You can minimize the damage by immediately flushing the affected eye with clean water for 15 minutes. Once you’ve rinsed your eye as much as possible to rid it of the chemical, seek medical attention.
If you have a foreign body in your eye, such as an eyelash or speck of dirt, flush the eye with clean water to remove it. Please never use tweezers or other sharp instruments in or around your eyes.
If the object has sharp edges or is embedded in your eye’s tissue, do not attempt to remove it. Please seek medical attention and refrain from touching or rubbing the area.
